IT'S GONNA BE GREAT IN 98

No doubt about it, this was the band that all those smarmy little record company execs were after when they turned up en masse to Shifty Discoâs party at the Garage last month. The coming together of two of Oxfordâs best-known creative sons, namely ex-Ride singer Mark Gardener and ex-Mystics person and Supergrass producer Sam Williams is an irresistible combination. Separately they put out two gently beautiful singles on Shifty Disco last year while together they tread a harder, funkier path, not afraid to do the odd bit of experimenting while keeping the pop pot bubbling nicely. Expect an A&R feeding frenzy and plenty of bitchy national press inches as they move unstoppably upwards to the stars.
