Animal (Animalhouse)

Featuring Mark Gardener, formerly of Ride, and Sam Williams, who was involved with the first two Supergrass EPs, The Animalhouse are the sound of the flotsam of the Oxford/Reading indie axis regrouping and licking their wounds. 'Animal' is a Williams composition, all Dr Who synths and frantic guitars, whose attempted sense of seething, pent-up tension somehow doesn't really amount to more than a weedy "Grrr!". 'Sodium Glow' is a slight improvement, in a subdued, streetlit, trip-hoppy kind of way.
