06/98 blam!

('blam!' is the magazine published by the promoters of the tunbridge wells forum, where animalhouse played on 12/06/98)

as you've probably all guessed by now (i know you all turn to the listings as soon as you get blam!), june is a rather weird month from the point of view that we have some of the biggest gigs of the year happening. subcircus haven't played for 12 months, we've got pete wylie and wah's first gig for 10 years, and if that wasn't enough....animal house (sic) will be performing purely for your pleasure!! for those of you who haven't already heard, animal house feature mark gardner (sic) and loz formerly of, probably one of the greatest bands of the early 90's, ride. this will be the first time that the band have played together on tour and the date at the forum should be one of the highlights of the year.

ride,. for those of you who missed out, were one of the ground breaking indie bands that paved the way for the likes of oasis and mansun, making it cool for the record buying public to like pop bands again! they mixed powerful melody lined with distant vocals and white noise guitars to come up with a brand of music that, on record, was engulfing and live , was awe inspiring. i know because i was lucky enough to see them at the height of their career. one of the most memorable live experiences i've ever had, come to think of it. mark's good looks and floppy fringe (that and his lips)  sent the young ladies in the audience into a pant-tastic frenzy!

animal house are in fact a brand new band, and follow on from the later material that ride produced. we all know about hurricane #1...they've made it big time now. animal house are destined to go one better. they are the tipped band by the music industry and press (and all down here at the forum) to go interstellar over the next 12 months. don't miss out...you'll have to shoot yourself if you do! and then there's those lips....
